Needless Games has released "Find The Needle," a game where players search for a single needle in a haystack, for Windows as an Early Access title. While the demo was "very well-received," the game has had a rocky start, with "mixed reviews" as of this writing.
A “Find the Needle in a Haystack” Game
Inspired by the English idiom “finding a needle in a haystack,” the game gained significant attention after a video posted by Nas on X on August 22 went viral.
As a result, a large number of imitation games based on the same concept have been released and distributed on platforms like Roblox and Steam. In response, the “original” game, *Needle In A Haystack Simulator: A Needle in a Haystack*, has added an “ORIGINAL” logo to the capsule art on its Steam store page.
This title, which has just been released in Early Access, is one such follow-up game. However, the demo version released on September 11 has been well-received; as of the time of writing (November 7), it has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating, with 87% of 1,640 reviews recommending it.
Start by searching with your own hands, then move on to automation

As mentioned above, the game’s basic concept is to find a single needle in a massive haystack, and you start by doing it yourself. You can sell the hay for funds, use that money to buy tools like shovels to increase efficiency, and eventually build an automated factory using conveyor belts and robotic arms.
The technology tree, designed to support progression, is massive and reportedly features over 300 types of upgrades.
The Early Access period is expected to last 6 to 12 months, during which the developers plan to add content while adjusting the game’s balance based on player feedback.
As for the game itself, at the time of writing, reviews are “mixed,” with 69% of 122 reviews recommending it—a somewhat rocky start. Looking at the reviews, there seem to be criticisms that many of the added features have backfired and disrupted the game’s balance, that the quest system makes progression feel restrictive, and that the price feels high.

"Find The Needle" is currently available in Early Access for Windows (Steam) for 2,100 yen (1,785 yen until November 21).
