On October 31, 2026, “Soulframe Devstream 18” was streamed, providing a preview of *Soulframe*’s development and upcoming updates.
We were invited to a media preview event for this release, so we’ll be sharing details about the presentation and its content!
From an invitation-only event to a release for all PC players! Mounts and limited-time events are also coming
Throughout late 2023, *Soulframe* underwent 16 updates as *Soulframe Preludes*, remaining in a pre-alpha state. However, on November 7, the “Soulframe Open Prelude” will finally launch, allowing all PC players to step into the world of *Soulframe*.

“Soulframe Open Prelude” is a free alpha test version of *Soulframe* that will be available for download for Windows PCs via the official website. Additionally, a Founder’s Pack is on sale to support development, and purchasers will receive exclusive pledges, gear, and more.
The developers explain that as they continue development, a certain degree of “familiarity” inevitably sets in, so this initiative is being carried out with the aim of gathering feedback from many players to further improve the game.
Furthermore, the title of the next update, *Soulframe Preludes 17*, scheduled for release in November, is “Verse of the Veilands.”Upon completing the story quest “The Agonizing Stag,” players will explore Arka’s overworld through the new progression system “Veilands” and witness the corruption caused by the invading Aurd forces.

In “Prelude 17,” you’ll finally be able to ride the “mounts” announced at “TennoCon 2026.” The previous update introduced a system where you train young mounts and deepen your bond with them.
Once you’ve completed training and purified the two regions of “Veil Land,” you’ll obtain a recipe. After mixing the ingredients and feeding your mount “Bearn Day Biscuits,” it will grow into a “Wolf of Omens,” and you’ll be able to ride it. Players can choose whether or not to let it grow, so if you’d prefer to keep it as a cub, you can leave it as is.
During the preview event, a video of players riding the mount was released, and I couldn’t help but be drawn to its fluffy, wagging tail—it looked so inviting I just wanted to reach out and grab it.
It seems there will be ongoing updates to the mount in the future, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it will grow alongside the player.

The new Pact, “Aurd Schlaik,” is inspired by the enemy faction Aurd. You’ll fight by making full use of traps such as stationary spike traps, darts with balloons that lift enemies into the air, “Bola Chains” that link enemies together to deal linked damage, and throwable bombs that help with evasion.Along with this Covenant, new weapons, armor, and enemies will also be added.
Additionally, the seasonal event “The Eve of Beata” will return. You can explore strange clusters of winter pumpkins and hunt down the new mini-boss, the headless rider “Vertulska,” to earn limited-time rewards and catch the special fish “Terror of the Depths.”

Since this is an opportunity to obtain Vertulska’s mask, as well as a scythe and talisman, it’s a great time for new *Soulframe* players to aim to participate in the event.

While *Soulframe* was originally designed to be a game where players make their own discoveries, the developers received a lot of feedback saying, “I don’t know what to do next.” As a result, they’re making changes to create an experience that better guides players forward by integrating the “Wishes” system—which functions as the game’s missions—into the gameplay. To prevent players from stopping the game because they feel there’s nothing to do after finishing a quest, exploration and missions are designed to continue beyond that point, showcasing long-term progression.
During the Q&A session, it was explained how *Soulframe* has responded to player feedback. It was also noted that requests from players who simply “wanted to spend time in the world” led the development team to gain confidence in the *Soulframe* world itself, which in turn led to the addition of features such as character customization and fishing. The combat style, which initially consisted almost entirely of melee combat, has also become richer thanks to player feedback, leading to the introduction of magic and archery.
The developers also plan to continue refining cooperative play, matchmaking, and accessibility features to ensure the game is enjoyable for a wide range of users. And, they hinted that in the future, players might even be able to own multiple mounts…?
*Soulframe* is currently in development for PC and consoles. The “Open Prelude,” which begins on November 7, is for Windows PC and can be accessed via the official website. The game is currently available for addition to your Steam wishlist.
