I feel so sorry for the animal-character... They're so cute...

Independent developer Orsoniks has launched the Steam store page for its cave-exploration survival simulation, *Casualties: Unknown*.

You must manage everything from your limbs to your cardiovascular system and mental health

This game depicts a grueling survival experience in which you play as a “disposable test subject” sent to an unknown planet and ordered to recover lost cargo. Players explore a cave environment spanning 11 layers, aiming to survive while facing a variety of dangers.

A key feature is the survival system, which goes beyond simple HP management. The game simulates everything from limbs to the cardiovascular system, and factors such as bleeding, infections, and even mental state all affect your chances of survival. Injuries are inevitable, and failing to provide proper treatment can lead to loss of consciousness.

Additionally, the crafting element—which utilizes resources found within the caves—is crucial; players must secure their own tools and first-aid supplies to adapt to the environment. At the same time, the fact that items left behind by past explorers “may not necessarily be helpful” further heightens the game’s tension.

Furthermore, the game features elements that support replayability, such as multiple characters, character progression, and hundreds of different items. Players will learn how to reach deeper levels through repeated deaths.

Originally released as a prototype on itch.io, where it garnered 300,000 downloads and gained popularity, full-scale development for Steam has now officially begun.

*Casualties: Unknown* is scheduled for release on PC (Steam) in 2026. A free demo is also available.
