The Steam version of *NieR: Automata*, currently available from Square Enix, has become a hot topic after a language update on November 6 caused the required storage space to be displayed as approximately 366 GB.
Surprised by this sudden figure, the actual storage requirement is
On November 6, the Steam version of this game added support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean through the latest update.
However, after the update, the required storage space displayed during installation was “366.56 GB.” Meanwhile, the storage requirement listed in the system requirements on the Steam store page remains at 50 GB—a figure more than seven times higher.

On the international forum Reddit, some users speculated that the update might have mistakenly included all the main game files within the data for each DLC. Others made jokes referencing the game, saying, “Android is heavy, you know” (incidentally, 2B weighs 148.8 kg according to official settings).
When our editorial team actually proceeded with the installation, the download size was displayed as 25.5GB, and upon checking the properties after completion, the size was listed as “40.7GB.” At least in our editorial team’s environment, the game did not end up occupying 366GB after installation.

As this issue gained attention, the official *NieR* X account announced, “We have confirmed an issue where the installation process displays a storage requirement exceeding expectations.” They stated that the cause is under investigation and that they are working on a solution.
A temporary workaround has also been announced: by navigating to “DLC” in the game’s Steam properties and unchecking the “Download DLC” box, players should be able to download the main game. The issue where the game displays approximately 366GB may be partly caused by the DLC.
