Ubisoft has begun rolling out a new update for the action RPG *Assassin’s Creed Valhalla*, which was released in 2020.
Gameplay features enhanced, including New Game+ and increased equipment upgrade caps
The update for *Assassin’s Creed Valhalla*, which had been teased by Jean Guesdon, Head of Content, during a series of announcements regarding the *Assassin’s Creed* series on October 30, is now available.
This update, version 1.8.0, marks the first major addition of new game content in over three and a half years, following the update released in late 2022 that added the epilogue “The Last Chapter” to the main game.

New Game+ Added
Available after completing Chapter 2, “The Holy Day,” of the main story’s Hamptonshire campaign. The difficulty increases with each playthrough. Additionally, Mithril—a new material required for upgrading gear to “Heaven” quality and enhancing runes—has been introduced, and Platinum can now be obtained as a substitute for specific ores found in treasure caches.While owning the “Dawn of Ragnarök” DLC was previously required to obtain the platinum needed to upgrade gear to “Heaven,” this requirement has now been removed.
Equipment Enhancement Cap Increased
The maximum upgrade level for “Heaven” quality gear has been raised from 13 to 27. Upgrading requires large quantities of the new resource, Mithril. Additionally, the “Heaven” quality has been expanded to all gear.
New “Expanded Progression System”
A game balance change that can be easily enabled via the options menu using existing save data. Equipment, runes, and masteries now directly affect Aevor’s overall combat power, increasing the reliance on gear for combat performance. While players will feel the impact of combat power increases from equipment upgrades more tangibly, this update also promises a more challenging gameplay experience.
“Stash” Added
A Stash has been added in Ravensthorpe, England, as a new way to organize gear and runes.
In addition, enhancements have been made to the Rune Workshop, new achievements have been added, and optimizations for the PS5 Pro have been implemented.
