CI Games, a Polish publisher known for *Lords of the Fallen* and the *Sniper: Ghost Warrior* series, has released new details focusing on combat in *Lords of the Fallen II*, a Souls-like action game currently in development by its subsidiary, HEXWORKS.
Two videos released: one showcasing the overhauled combat system and another featuring commentary
As a direct sequel to the 2023 reboot of the 2014 original *Lords of the Fallen*, *Lords of the Fallen II* depicts an adventure set in “Thorgal,” a new world 100 years later.
Two new videos have now been released: a gameplay clip titled “Steel & Sorcery” and a developer commentary.
These videos reveal the following information:
About the Combat System in *Lords of the Fallen II*
Weapon switching during combos is now possible—players can now quickly switch weapons without interrupting their attack flow, such as starting a combo with dual daggers and finishing it with a scythe. (Using the D-pad on a gamepad)
Weapon Moves Nearly Doubled—The number of unique weapon move sets, which numbered around 15 in the previous game, has nearly doubled to 28 in this installment (23 new moves + 5 returning from the previous game).
Enhanced Weapon Distinctions—The unique characteristics of each weapon type have been further emphasized, such as weapons capable of infinite combos or those specializing in area-of-effect attacks. Additionally, the differences between one-handed and two-handed weapons have been clarified, and a wide variety of boss weapons have been introduced, each featuring new counterattacks and unique attack skills that allow you to channel the power of the boss that wielded them.
New Quickfire Mechanics Added—Two new Quickfire abilities can now be assigned to melee weapons. This allows you to mix spells into physical attacks without changing your stance, insert a thrown spear into a combo, or apply buffs instantly.(On a gamepad, this corresponds to the LB (L1) + X (Square) or Y (Triangle) buttons, which function as guard.)
Improvements to Ranged Attack Mechanics—The button layout has been revised, allowing players to equip four different spells simultaneously with a single catalyst when casting, and to instantly switch to four additional spells.Furthermore, with spells, Sanguinarius restores mana, and bows and other weapons now come with an infinite supply of basic ammunition, making it easier to progress with a consistent ranged build.
Easier to Experiment with Various Weapons—Weapon upgrades can now be obtained at a low cost, making it easier to experiment with different weapons even in the later stages of the game.
The “Lifting the Veil” video series, in which commentators introduce the game, had seen a hiatus in updates recently, but it is reported that regular releases will resume starting with this episode.
