The Tokyo Game Show runs for five days (though it was shortened to four due to a typhoon), but I’m only attending the two Business Days. Since I only needed to pack a change of clothes for one day, my luggage was light, and I was able to attend in casual attire.

By the way, on the second day, I wore a T-shirt featuring the Sanrio character Pompompurin. I didn’t wear it specifically because I was covering the Sanrio booth—it’s just my everyday outfit.

◆Over 145 Sanrio Characters Gather Together! “Sanrio Party Land”

Today I’m introducing “Sanrio Party Land,” brought to you by Sanrio’s official game brand, “Sanrio Games”!

This party game features over 145 Sanrio characters.

It features not only the so-called “legends”—like the long-time favorite Hello Kitty and Pompompurin, who won the Sanrio Character Grand Prix—but also nostalgic characters like Umeya General Store and new Sanrio characters who’ve debuted in recent years, such as Gaopawaru.

When I spotted my favorite character, Opa Waruu, spinning a mysterious device in the released trailer, I was absolutely thrilled.

I got to try out mini-games like one where you protect Gudetama—who’s about to get grabbed by chopsticks—on a plate, and another where you hit back balls thrown by Cinnamon using his big ears.

Each game is themed around a specific character or designed to highlight their unique personalities and traits—it’s a collection of mini-games that fans simply can’t resist!

“Sanrio Party Land” is scheduled for release on October 29, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2!

◆ Let’s Dance with the Sanrio Characters! “Sanrio Kawaii Me Live!”

Next up is the smartphone title “Sanrio Kawaii Me Live!” This is a rhythm game where you can have fun alongside Sanrio characters.

You can enjoy your very own live performance while coordinating the characters’ outfits and stages, and powering up the characters.

It features a wide variety of songs, including “Pudding and Muffin’s Pom Pom Beat☆,” which has racked up a total of 28 million views.

It’s great that there are two modes available: Technical Mode, with challenging difficulty that rhythm game enthusiasts will love, and Performance Mode, which even beginners can enjoy with ease!

“Sanrio Kawaii Me Live!” is scheduled for release on smartphones in 2027!

With the two Business Days wrapped up, all that was left was to head home on the Shinkansen… or so I thought. But since it was the day before Silver Week, all reserved seats were fully booked. I boarded the train in the non-reserved section, but couldn’t secure a seat, so I was in for the ordeal of standing on the platform for a long time.

And so, after two quite grueling days—filled with plenty of gaming, plenty of walking, and ending with me standing motionless in the Shinkansen aisle—my TGS 2026 came to a close.
