The “Tokyo Game Show 2026” (hereinafter “TGS2026”) was held at Makuhari Messe from Thursday, September 17, 2026, through Sunday, September 20, 2026.

In this article, we’ll share our hands-on experience with “The Full Belly Escape Plan,” the new title from Jii-ma—a developer known for creating games centered on the theme of “a gentle post-apocalyptic world”—which was among the titles on display.

The protagonist is a prisoner known as “No. 32.” It seems he’s been captured. When a guard calls out to him, the protagonist braces himself, thinking, “Has the time finally come for me to be tortured…!?” But what the guard hands him is… a steaming hot meal!

Greetings are important—Let’s eat!

Facing what looks like delicious white rice at first glance, he clasps his hands together. Just as he’s about to take a bite, a voice comes from nowhere… Glancing around, it seems the voice is coming from the cell next door.

The voice said, “Make a metallic clinking sound. Unless you want to die, that is.” The speaker vanished without further explanation, but the phrase “unless you want to die” just wouldn’t leave my mind.

So I picked up my spoon—not to eat the rice, but to tap it against my fork and make a metallic clang. When I did, a massive swarm of bugs (or something like them) crawled out from the rice! Eek!

As you can see, this game is all about discovering the dangers hidden in your food through a wide variety of methods, resolving them to ensure your safety, and eating everything on your plate to escape prison.

Greetings are important—thank you for the meal!

Along with a prison guard you can’t quite hate and a mysterious neighbor, you’ll encounter a cast of unique characters, including adorable parasites (!?) and a junior who appears out of nowhere to help you escape.

Right?

My personal favorite is the little parasite. She helps the protagonist eat the food safely. At first glance, you can’t tell what’s dangerous—and even if you do, you might not know how to fix it… but she solves those problems for you. Let’s work together to polish off a wide variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes!

Also, this game features multiple endings. Your score fluctuates based on how fast you eat your meals (i.e., how quickly you spot and resolve dangers), and I have a feeling this plays a role in determining which ending you get…!

Who are the mysterious neighbors and the parasites, really? Why is the protagonist being forced to eat such strange meals? And above all, why is the protagonist being held captive?

Is it really just a straw!?!?

"The Full Belly Escape Plan" is scheduled for release in 2027 for PC (Steam) via PLAYISM.
