Culture Indie Games
"Games Without AI," a global indie game showcase featuring "handmade games" created without generative AI, is launching! Set to stream on November 25.

Led by Dev Land Marketing, “Games Without AI,” an indie game showcase featuring games created without the use of generative AI, will stream on November 25, 2026 (local time).Prior to that, a community review and voting period will be held, and ongoing promotion, media coverage, and community activities for this initiative are scheduled to continue through February 25, 2027.

No AI used for art, music, or voice acting

“Games Without AI” is an independent showcase initiative designed to discover and highlight games created without the use of generative AI. Guided by the philosophy of “celebrating games made by people,” it is accepting submissions from indie game developers around the world creating for PC and consoles.

The only requirement for participation is that the game must not use art, music, or voice acting created by generative AI. The project accepts submissions at any stage of development—from unreleased works, prototypes, and demos to titles in early access and those that have already been officially released.

One of the games highlighted by the organizers is *Crimson Furnace*

Judging is not automated but involves community participation. Developers are required to disclose their production process and any use of generative AI when submitting their entries, and on September 5, a spreadsheet listing all submitted works was made publicly available (it appears voting can be done on Discord). Community voting and discussions are ongoing on the official Discord channel and other platforms until November 1.

The organizers’ website states that any entry found to have used AI after the fact will be disqualified, and the studio in question will be barred from participating in future editions of the event.

At the same time, the organizers emphasize that this initiative is not intended to antagonize developers or players who choose different production methods. They state that the goal is simply to provide a clear platform for players seeking games created with human-made art, acting, music, and design.

The Organizers’ Top Picks

The following are the titles the organizers are particularly highlighting:

Amid Concerns Over “AI Slop”

it was recently reported that at “Steam Indie Connect,” a developer event held in South Korea, developers voiced concerns that the Steam Next Fest was flooded with low-quality games created by generative AI—so-called “AI slop”—and that Valve staff responded by stating, “Many staff members are working on countermeasures.”

With AI-generated clone games continuing to flood the market and the debate over the use of generative AI ongoing, this initiative—aimed at making it easier to find games created by human hands—is likely to attract attention from both developers and users.

Submissions for “Games Without AI” are being accepted until November 1, 2026. The showcase is scheduled to stream on the All Ages of Geek YouTube channel on November 25 (local time).
