The Verge, an international media outlet, has reported that the subtitle for *The Elder Scrolls VI*, currently in development by Bethesda Game Studios, will be “Sentinel.”
Information on the setting and story outline
In this report, The Verge reporter Tom Warren stated that he had learned from a source familiar with Bethesda’s plans that the official title of the latest installment in *The Elder Scrolls* series is scheduled to be announced as *The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel*.
The report also suggests that the announcement could take place as early as November, which coincides with the 15th anniversary of the international release of the original *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*.
Reports also indicate that the game will be set in “Hammerfell,” a location that has appeared in previous titles in the series, and will delve into the history and secrets of the mysterious ancient artifact known as the “Elder Scrolls.” However, Warren anticipates that the November event will consist solely of the title announcement.
Regarding the subtitle, in August 2026, when Xbox CEO Archa Sharma observed gameplay of the title, she posted on her X account, “The Elder Scrolls VI: ********,”, and Bethesda Game Studios also used eight asterisks in its reply. Following this post, speculation about the subtitle became a hot topic at the time, and the newly revealed “Sentinel” also fits the pattern of eight English letters.
Furthermore, on the overseas forum Reddit, users have previously pointed out that there might be hints related to “Starfield,” another title developed by the same studio. This involves breaking down the employee ID “190514-2009140512” from the character creation screen into “1905142009140512” and matching them to the alphabetical order, it can be read as “SENTINEL.”
“Sentinel” is also the name of a city in Hammerfell, which connects to the setting reported in this news. However, it is unclear whether this employee ID was intentionally included to hint at the title of *TES6*.
On the other hand, as reported, we await an official announcement to confirm whether the official title will be revealed soon and whether the setting is indeed Hammerfell.
By the way, Sentinel was already teased in Starfield
