Analgesic Productions and gingham games have released "Danchi Days," a Heisei-era retro-style adventure game set in a Japanese housing complex.

Let’s Bring Back the Summer Festival
The game’s protagonist is Hoshino, a 12-year-old elementary school student who lives with her father and her grandmother, who has dementia, in an aging housing complex. To revive the housing complex’s summer festival—for which her grandmother once served as chairperson—she works tirelessly to recruit participants alongside a kappa companion who suddenly appears.

Invite
the colorful neighborhood residents to the summer festival “Danchi Days” features residents from a variety of backgrounds. There’s a friendly, chatty senior citizen; a grumpy high school student who wants nothing more than to escape; and adults striving to make ends meet. Each resident offers a glimpse into the various facets of life in the housing complex, from exciting events to the mundane routines of daily life.Enjoy Surfing the Web: Browse the
in-game internet to discover surprising sides and information about your neighbors. Be careful, though—some websites are dark or even malicious. Not everyone is as enthusiastic about the summer festival as Hoshino is. Just like joy and laughter, anger and sadness are also part of life in the housing complex.Play Mini-Games and Explore
the Housing Complex: Morokyu, the kappa who is Hoshino’s partner, will help you find the five offerings needed to revive the summer festival.During your explorations, you’ll wander through forests and buildings and take on “Five Senses Games.” These are unique mini-games full of surprises, such as smelling the scent of trees, hugging stuffed animals, or listening closely to the sounds coming from the bathroom.

"Danchi Days," which is said to be influenced by the 2002 GBA game "Sakura Momoko’s Ukiuki Carnival," is now available on Steam for PC and Mac. It’s 10% off through November 13. A 90-minute demo version that lets you experience Chapter 1 is also available.
