The Wall Street Journal reported that the production budget for A24’s live-action film adaptation of “Elden Ring” is nearing $200 million. It is said to be the most expensive film the company has ever produced.

Production Budget on Par with “Titanic”

This information was included in an article published on October 23 (local time) that detailed A24’s promotional strategies and business operations. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the article reports that nearly $200 million is being invested in the live-action film adaptation of “Elden Ring,” scheduled for release in 2028.

The Hollywood Reporter had previously reported that the film would have a budget of over $100 million and a shooting schedule of approximately 100 days. It was described as a particularly ambitious feature film project for A24.

The $200 million figure is the same as the production budget for “Titanic,” which was released in 1997. Additionally, “THE BATMAN,” released in 2022, is also reported to have had a production budget of $200 million. While there are differences in the cost of living across eras, this is a figure that can be compared to blockbuster films known to everyone.

How will the vast “Land Between” and the monstrous enemies be brought to life in live-action? Given the scale of the budget reported this time, it’s clear that A24 is putting a lot of effort into this project.

Alex Garland, known for films such as *Civil War: America’s Last Day*, will serve as director and screenwriter. The cast includes Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, and Carey Spooner.

The live-action film adaptation of “Elden Ring” is scheduled for theatrical release overseas on March 3, 2028. The release date in Japan has not yet been announced.
