Square Enix released its new RPG, *Final Fantasy Resonance*, on October 22, 2026 (October 23 for the Steam version). It has been revealed that the game set a new record for the highest number of concurrent players on Steam among single-player titles in the *Final Fantasy* series.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that so many people have come to realize what an interesting guy Raswell is.”
Based on the concept of “What if ‘Final Fantasy’ had evolved while retaining its pixel art style?”, this HD-2D title was created as a reimagining of the smartphone app *Final Fantasy Brave Exvius*.It entered the top 10 of the Steam sales charts upon its debut, and as of this writing, it is performing strongly with a 97% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating in Steam user reviews.

According to the unofficial Steam database site “SteamDB,” this title has surpassed 42,000 concurrent users on Steam, setting a new record for single-player *Final Fantasy* games.
It’s worth noting that for other titles in the series, such as *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth* and *Final Fantasy XVI*, there was a time lag between the console and PC releases. In contrast, since this title was effectively released simultaneously on both platforms, it’s likely that many users chose to purchase it on Steam.
Furthermore, the title with the highest concurrent user count in the series is the MMO *Final Fantasy XIV*.

Keisuke Nakajima, the game’s producer, and screenwriter Yukinori Kitajima—who has been writing scenarios since the *FFBE* era—have also shared messages of gratitude for this remarkable achievement.
*Final Fantasy Resonance* is now available for PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Switch. A demo featuring the entire first chapter is available on each store page.
