Bethesda Softworks announced via a Steam news post on October 24, 2026 (Japan Time) that the cumulative player count for the online multiplayer RPG *Fallout 76* has surpassed 25 million. The announcement coincided with “Fallout Day,” the series’ anniversary.
Breaking the 25-million mark just before its 8th anniversary!
The announcement expressed gratitude to players, stating, “25 million. That’s how many people have stepped out of Vault 76 and walked the roads of Appalachia. We thank everyone who has journeyed with us.”
Released in November 2018, the game initially received harsh reviews but has gained a wider following through continuous updates. The cumulative player count had already surpassed 20 million in May 2024, shortly after the release of the TV series, and has now broken that record once again.
“World Pets” Launches December 1
“Fallout Day” is an annual commemorative event tied to October 23—the date a nuclear war broke out in the series’ world.This year, instead of the usual live stream, the event took the form of daily announcements on official social media from October 20 to 24 (Japan Time). During that period, the upcoming major update, “World Pets,” was revealed.
Scheduled for release on December 1, “World Pets” is an update that allows players to take pets—which until now could only be kept within C.A.M.P.—out on adventures across Appalachia. In addition to dogs and cats, Wasteland creatures such as Radhog and Desclaw will travel and fight alongside players.
