Polden Publishing announced on October 24 that it will begin playtesting *Needle In A Haystack Simulator: A Needle in a Haystack*, developed by Studio Bitdot, starting next week. While Steam is currently flooded with games based on similar concepts, this title is the “original” whose concept video generated a massive response.
The Original “Haystack” Game
Based on an English idiom, this casual game centers on the concept of “finding one needle in a haystack of 5 million stalks.” A video post shared by Nas on X on August 22 had garnered over 54 million views as of the time of this writing (October 24).
It has been reported that imitation games appeared on Roblox immediately after this title caused a huge sensation on social media, and on Steam, searching for terms like “Needle Haystack” brings up a large number of similar games. The “original” game even includes an “ORIGINAL” logo on its Steam storefront capsule art.

Additionally, there was an incident where the developer of “Needle In A Haystack”—a copycat game—alleged that another similar game had stolen their code, only to receive a cold reception from users.
Playtesting Begins Next Week

Amid these developments, the game’s developers announced via a Steam news post on October 24 that playtesting will begin next week. They explained that the goal is to “thoroughly eliminate bugs, gather feedback, and refine the overall gaming experience.”
Furthermore, the playtest will feature a “Hardcore” mode for those who enjoy a challenge, as well as a secret third mode. Details are scheduled to be released soon.
"Needle In A Haystack Simulator" is scheduled for release on Windows (Steam) in the fourth quarter of 2026.
