MADFINGER Games has released a major update titled “Rogue Ops” for the open-world tactical shooter *Gray Zone Warfare*. Currently in Early Access, the game has now transitioned from the pre-alpha to the alpha version, and a soft wipe will be implemented.
A Challenging, PvE-Focused Shooter
This game is a tactical shooter set in an open-world conflict zone where players explore and engage in combat. It is primarily PvE-focused, with no mandatory PvP, and is described as a challenging experience where patience, experience, and knowledge matter more than mere reflexes.
Although Early Access began in April 2024, as of this writing (October 24, 2026), the game has a “Somewhat Positive” rating, with 72% of 69,977 reviews recommending it.While players appreciate being able to thoroughly explore the realistically rendered environments, there are many complaints regarding game balance and the monotony of the content.
Significant Expansion of the Gameplay Experience
On October 23, the fourth major update for the game, “Rogue Ops,” was released, marking the transition from the pre-alpha to the alpha version.
The centerpiece of this update is the “Hideout,” a player-exclusive base of operations where players can craft supplies and equipment. Additionally, the PvE-compatible activities “Smuggling” and “Hunting” allow players to enjoy high-risk operations such as transporting high-value contraband or attempting to seize cargo.
Furthermore, the update includes map expansions that add new locations, as well as new firearms, weapon parts, and gear. Along with these changes, a soft wipe will be implemented. Note that during the soft wipe, players’ progress will be preserved, but their gear and in-game currency will be reset.
Regarding this update, which includes significant improvements to AI and animations, Marek Rabasz, CEO and Creative Director of MADFINGER Games, has released the following comment:

*Grey Zone Warfare* is currently available in Early Access for Windows (Steam). A sale is also underway through November 6, offering the game at a 35% discount for 3,510 yen (regular price: 5,400 yen).
