Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that it will postpone the update and server maintenance for *ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE* (Ace Combat 8), which had been scheduled for today, October 23.
Postponement Due to Ongoing Industry-Wide System Issues
The postponement applies to the Ver. 1.01.002 update and the accompanying server maintenance for the online mode “ACE COMBAT ONLINE.” The maintenance was originally scheduled to take place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on October 23.
Update Ver. 1.01.002 is scheduled to include adjustments to enemy aircraft behavior in “CAMPAIGN” mode, fixes for a bug that prevented progress under specific conditions, and adjustments to special weaponry in “ACE COMBAT ONLINE.”
According to the official X account, the postponement was decided based on the status of efforts to address system-related issues affecting the entire industry. The revised implementation date and time will be announced once the schedule is finalized.
Regarding this matter, it had already been announced on October 22 that the implementation schedule might be adjusted.
Although the official announcement did not specify the exact nature of the issue, on October 21, two critical vulnerabilities with a severity rating of 9.2 were discovered in the programming language “PHP,” and patches have been released.
In Japan as well, the impact is spreading throughout the gaming industry: online games such as “Uma Musume: Pretty Derby” and “Granblue Fantasy” have conducted emergency maintenance, and long-running titles have announced service closures, citing the difficulty of addressing the vulnerabilities.
"ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE" is now available for PC (Steam), PS5, and XBOX Series X|S.
