"It's coming out at the same time as 'GTA 6,' but... 'Godzilla fans will definitely buy it'—The remastered version of 'Godzilla: Monster Brawl' is set to launch on November 3, 'Godzilla Day' [UPDATE]"

*UPDATE (October 23, 2026, 9:32 a.m.): Atari responded via email to the Game*Spark editorial team, confirming that the remastered version of *Godzilla: Monster Brawl* will be released in Japan for PC and consoles.

The following text is from the time of the article’s publication (September 1, 5:30 PM).

The remastered version of “Godzilla: Monster Brawl” is scheduled for release overseas on November 3, 2026.While many game titles are avoiding a November release—the month “Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)” is set to launch—an interview explaining why the developers deliberately chose November was published on IGN International.

“Godzilla fans who are looking forward to it will buy it whenever it’s released, and I wanted to pay tribute to Godzilla’s birthday.”

This title is a remaster of *Godzilla: Monster Brawl*, originally released on the GameCube in 2002. Players control Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, and Destoroyah using a simple control scheme, engaging in a literal monster brawl as they battle while destroying the city.

When IGN interviewed Simon Strange, a senior designer at Pipeworks—the studio developing this title—he stated, “When we were deciding on the release date, we weren’t thinking about that at all (the impact of ‘GTA 6’).”“If Atari (the game’s publisher) had said, ‘We think *GTA 6* will affect sales, so we can’t release it around that time,’ we would have discussed it. But nobody said anything,” he replied.

Strange noted, “The whole ‘GTA 6’ thing is really interesting,” but added, “Godzilla fans are really looking forward to this, so they’ll buy it no matter when it’s released, and releasing it on Godzilla’s birthday is a gesture of respect.”

In fact, November 3—the game’s release date—has been designated by Toho as “Godzilla’s Birthday,” derived from the premiere date of the original *Godzilla*. Given that adjustments were made to the production of physical copies to accommodate this date, setting November 3 as the release date can certainly be seen as a sign of great respect.

Unfortunately, however, it appears there are no plans to release this title in Japan. Let’s hope a Japanese version will be released in some form in the future.

The remastered version of “Godzilla: Monster Brawl” will be released exclusively overseas on November 3 for PC (Steam), PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 (the Steam store page is not accessible from Japan).
