Nippon Ichi Software has announced that it will release the second free update for its life simulation game *Hono Kurashi no Niwa* starting October 27.

This life simulation game was developed by the team behind the “Yomawari” series of nighttime exploration action games. Set in “Kagatsu Village,” a rural community where ancient “rules”—breaking which could lead to dire consequences—have been passed down through the generations, players can enjoy growing crops, tending to livestock, fishing, hunting, and interacting with the villagers.
Following the first update released on September 29, this second free update adds an event where the protagonist’s birthday is celebrated, as well as farming tools to make farm work easier and furniture you can place in your home. The main features are as follows.
Setting the Protagonist’s Birthday: An event to set the protagonist’s birthday will trigger when you check a letter that arrives once the
conditions for the birthday event are met. On the set birthday, if you speak to a villager with an affinity rating of 3 or higher, you’ll receive a special gift along with their birthday wishes.To trigger this
event, you must have reached the second year of the game. In “Quiet Life Mode,” this becomes available the day after you clear the main scenario; in “Peaceful Life Mode,” it becomes available the day after the event where Nago moves to the village.
Addition
of the “Seed Planter” farming tool: This tool allows you to simultaneously spread the crops, seeds, seedlings, and fertilizer you have on hand across a 3-square area in front of you in fields or rice paddies. Upgrading it at the anvil expands its usable range. Once you complete the third stage of the shrine restoration, you’ll receive a letter, and the tool will become available for purchase at the general store.
Addition of the “Bathroom Fixtures Series” Furniture A new set of furniture has been added to enhance your home’s bathroom facilities, consisting of 10 items:
bathtub, shower, bath chair, bath tub, toilet, toilet paper holder, wall-mounted towel rack, sink, shower curtain, and partition.Once you obtain the Fox Hunting License, you’ll receive a letter, and these items will become available for purchase at the general store.
Please note that events do not occur during certain sections of the main scenario or on days with thunderstorms. If an event does not trigger even after meeting the conditions, please proceed further in the scenario or check again on a day without a thunderstorm. In addition to the above, numerous other feature additions and improvements are planned.
Furthermore, paid DLC is scheduled for release in the spring of 2027. Additional systems, scenarios, maps, and one-off events are currently under consideration.
"The Garden of Twilight" is currently available for PC (Steam/Windows), PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The price is 9,020 yen for the Steam, Windows, PS5, and Switch 2 versions, and 7,920 yen for the Switch version.
