The action RPG *Stupid Never Dies*, developed by GPTRACK50 and released today, October 22, has gotten off to a “somewhat positive” start on Steam based on reviews at the time of this writing.
Some users say it evokes the atmosphere of the 2000s
This action RPG marks the debut title from GPTRACK50, a studio comprised of staff who previously worked on series such as *Devil May Cry* and *Dragon’s Dogma*.
The protagonist, Davy—the weakest zombie of all—falls in love at first sight with Julia, a woman who froze to death in a shopping mall freezer. To bring her back to life, he ventures into a dangerous dungeon, aiming to defeat “KOM,” humanity’s arch-enemy, who lurks at its deepest depths.
In combat, players make full use of “Style Eat”—which allows Davy to steal enemies’ abilities and transform into creatures like werewolves and harpies—and “Body Hack,” which lets him integrate gear into his own body to enhance his abilities. Through “explosive growth” from the weakest of beginnings, he must clear the dungeon within a limited time.

On Metacritic, a review aggregation site for this title, the Metascore for both the PS5 and PC versions stands at “66” as of this writing. Meanwhile, on Steam, 78% of the 60 total reviews are positive, earning the game a “Somewhat Positive” rating.
Steam reviews have praised the game’s vibrant visuals, the charm of characters like Davy, and the humor-filled story. The combat system—which combines transformations and skills, a key feature of the game—has also been well-received. Some players noted that the atmosphere, reminiscent of 2000s video games and romantic comedy movies, felt familiar and comforting.
On the other hand, some players expressed frustration with the lack of a lock-on feature, which makes it difficult to land attacks on enemies, and with the repetitive nature of looping through the same areas to collect materials. While these concerns were raised even by users who recommend the game, overall, there are many comments praising its unique world and characters, as well as the exhilarating feeling of battling while growing stronger.
*Stupid Never Dies* is currently available for PC (Steam) and PS5. A demo version (Steam/PS5) that lets you play the first two hours of the game is also available on each platform, and save data from the demo can be carried over to the full version.
