Satoru Honma, who worked on the localization of titles such as *Dragon Age: Origins* and *The Witcher 2* at the former Spike (now Spike Chunsoft) and currently serves as Associate Country Director for Japan at CD PROJEKT RED, is also involved in the anime series"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners." On his X account, he shared his thoughts on the closure of BioWare, which was announced on October 22, 2026.
His passion for “Dragon Age: Origins” changed Mr. Homma’s life

BioWare is a development studio that has produced many classic RPGs, starting with 1998’s “Baldur’s Gate” and including “Neverwinter Nights,” “Mass Effect,” and “Dragon Age.”However, due to consistently poor reviews of its recent titles, parent company Electronic Arts has announced the closure of the studio.

Mr. Honma was such a huge fan of *Dragon Age: Origins*—released in 2009 by EA (publisher) and BioWare (developer)—that he contacted BioWare from Spike, where he was working at the time, to propose a localization project. The Japanese-localized version, released by Spike for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, was highly acclaimed.
BioWare also praised this Japanese localization, and when it came time to localize CD PROJEKT RED’s *The Witcher 2*, BioWare staff recommended Spike to the team, leading to Spike Chunsoft releasing the Japanese versions of both *The Witcher 2* and *The Witcher 3*.
This connection led Mr. Honma to move to CD PROJEKT RED, where he also worked on the anime *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners*. Reflecting on these events, Mr. Honma stated, “Without BioWare, there might not have been *Edgerunners*. Thank you all so much for your hard work.”
