"Borrowed 20 million yen without his wife's knowledge": The former president of Nippon Ichi Software had been covering the unexpected costs of his new game out of his own pocket. His passion project, the new SRPG *Demon's Knight Fever*, goes on sale today, October 22.

"Demon's Knight Fever," a character-development RTA simulation RPG developed by Drecom and published by Arc System Works, was released today, October 22, 2026.

Sohei Shinkawa (pen name: Roman Kitayama), the game’s producer, posted an update on his X account (@RomanKitayama) on the same day.“During the development of *Demons Knight Fever*, which was released today, we ran into a budget shortfall, so I borrowed 20 million yen from the bank without telling my wife and poured it into the project,” he revealed, explaining that he had covered the development cost shortfall with his own funds.

The issue stemmed from a budget shortfall that arose during development. Mr. Kitayama posted that, to fill the gap, he borrowed 20 million yen from a bank without telling his family.

Furthermore, he reportedly has a plan—one that exudes extraordinary vitality—to “create 66 titles by the age of 75,” and if this game doesn’t sell, that plan could very well fall apart. “Please buy ‘Demons Night Fever’ as if it were a crowdfunding campaign!” he urged.

Sohei Shinkawa is the former president of Nippon Ichi Software, where he worked on the *Doll Princess of the Kingdom of Mar* series, the *Disgaea* series, and the *Hayari-gami* series, among others. After leaving Nippon Ichi Software in 2022, he founded Super Niche LLC in April 2025 and has already begun working on numerous games.

The genre this title champions is “Kill, Kill, Kill—Enemies and Allies Alike: A Character-Development RTA Simulation RPG Where You Get Stronger the More You Die.” Based on a classic grid-based simulation RPG, it features the “Servant Exploitation System,” where you personally blow up your own allies—the “servants”—to wipe out enemies in one fell swoop. The game is designed so that the more often a minion is killed, the stronger it becomes upon reincarnation—a unique twist where sacrificing your allies actually gives you a strategic advantage.

The story is set on another Earth, distinct from the one we inhabit. Gigasgoides—the strongest and most evil demon god, who suddenly turned into a “baby” just one step away from slaying the gods—and Kyoshiro Jaryuin, a nerdy young man who intensely hates the world, form a bizarre partnership to unleash the full extent of “evil.”Every time you defeat a chapter boss, the game world undergoes a drastic transformation, with scenarios—such as “becoming a monster to defeat a Super Sentai hero” or “becoming a witch to crush a magical girl”—switching one after another.

A play report on Game*Spark notes that the game truly lives up to the genre description provided by the developers.

Key Features

  • Minion Exploitation System: Sacrifice your own “minions” during battle to attack enemies. Use tactics like “Kill Skills” and “Sacrifices” to wipe out the enemy in one fell swoop

  • Training and Upgrading at the Hideout: Pour the “Vice Points” earned from your misdeeds into building the most fearsome army. Making quick decisions within limited time frames—such as “Recruitment” and “Treasure Hunting”—is the key to success

  • A World That Dramatically Changes with Each Chapter: The scenario shifts after each boss defeat, letting you experience the thrill of a wide variety of “misdeeds”

“Demon’s Night Fever” will be released on October 22, 2026, for PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch. The price is 4,950 yen (tax included) for both the physical and digital versions.
