Amanita Design, currently developing *Machinarium 2*, has responded to a video that was reportedly posted as a "love letter" to *Machinarium*.
A unique game set in a world inhabited solely by robots
*Machinarium* is an adventure game set in a world inhabited solely by robots of various shapes and functions, in which a small robot named Joseph sets out to rescue his girlfriend, Berta. After 17 years, *Machinarium 2*, a direct sequel, has been announced.
Amanita Design, the studio behind *Machinarium 2*, reacted to a *Machinarium*-themed video posted on X. The video was posted by Sylvio Drouin, who is reportedly the CEO of Nura Studios, a platform that uses AI for video generation and other applications.
Drouin explained that the video was created on Nura Studios and described it as “a love letter to *Machinarium*, a game we’ve loved for many years.”
Developer Expresses Displeasure Over AI Video
In response to the video, Amanita Design stated, “It’s brazen to throw ‘Machinarium’ assets into an AI, create shoddy AI animation, and call it a love letter...”They expressed their displeasure, stating that a “love letter” should be handwritten and that this “creepy video” has nothing to do with their work.
Meanwhile, in a post made at the time the video was released, Drouin revealed the background behind its creation. According to him, Drouin and his team “have worked at Unity, so we fully understand the immense amount of work game developers have put in, and we take its value very seriously.”

They also explained that they created this video to demonstrate the ideas that “even content produced using AI should utilize human-created assets, art, voice acting, sound effects, and music” and that “structuring the game in an episodic format should lead to an increase in the player base.”
As of this writing, Drouin has not responded to Amanita Design’s repost of the quote. In the replies section, comments have been posted pointing out that “you shouldn’t feed other people’s work to AI without permission” and “aren’t they just trying to piggyback on others to promote their own site?”
