Hexmonger has released a new demo for the roguelike TPS *Tin Coffins* to coincide with the Steam Next Fest.
Become the 22nd clone warrior, climb into your mech, and head to the battlefield
This game is a cell-shaded, third-person mech roguelike shooter.
Players take on the role of the 22nd combat clone warrior, pilot an infantry-sized humanoid mech, and lead a squad into battle. The game supports both cooperative play with other players and solo play with AI squadmates.
In procedurally generated battlefields, players must utilize cover to annihilate enemy squads. The game features a rigorous balance where both enemies and allies can be taken down in a matter of seconds under concentrated fire; therefore, it’s more important to play cautiously and whittle down enemy numbers through strategic maneuvering rather than relying on overwhelming firepower to mow them down.
There are three types of mechs to choose from: the lightweight class, equipped with a boost dash and jump pack; the medium class, capable of evading attacks with dive rolls; and the heavyweight class, featuring thruster charges and a fixed stance. The game includes limb damage mechanics—you can continue fighting even after losing an arm, but losing your head will render your radar and radio inoperable.
As for the roguelike elements, you can obtain equipment and mechs using salvaged items, and these are reportedly carried over even after an individual pilot is killed.
The released demo lets you play through Act 1 of the game, offering about two hours of gameplay.
"Tin Coffins" is scheduled for release on PC (Steam) in December 2026. The demo is currently available.
