On Mr. Ochazuke★Taro’s YouTube channel, videos showing him running “DOOM” on various devices have been generating a lot of buzz.
It turns out it’s not just hackers overseas who can run *DOOM* on all kinds of electronic devices—there are some in Japan, too.

In a video Ocha-zuke★Taro posted on October 9, he documents the entire process of thoroughly testing Yume Group’s “Yume Translator.”

He purchased this voice translation device secondhand for 1,600 yen, but inside, it’s actually an Android device. However, most of its functions are disabled, and it doesn’t seem easy to gain access to its internal systems.

After repeated trial and error, he enabled the USB connection to a PC and launched a standard Android launcher, causing the device to boot as an Android device. He was even able to browse the web, so it finally seems usable as an Android device.

After installing “PrBoom,” a multiplatform port of “DOOM,” the game ran flawlessly. Although the screen size shrinks slightly due to some compilation changes, it runs even in portrait mode.
Ochazuke★Taro is conducting experiments to run *DOOM* on various electronic devices in addition to this translation device, so if you’re interested, please check out his YouTube channel.
