It has been reported that Liquid Swords has filed for bankruptcy and has not paid salaries for several months. The company is a game development studio founded in 2020 by Christofer Sundberg, co-founder of Avalanche Studios, and released the open-world action game *Samson* in April 2026, though it received mixed reviews.

Liquid Swords is a game development studio founded in 2020 by Christofer Sundberg, co-founder of Avalanche Studios and known as the creator of *Just Cause*.While stating that “we don’t intend to compete with ‘GTA,’” the company developed an open-world action game set in a crime-ridden city and released it as *Samson* in April 2026.

This game, in which the debt-ridden protagonist goes on a rampage through hand-to-hand combat and car chases, has received harsh reviews on Steam as of this writing (October 17, 2026), with “Mixed” reviews and a Metascore of 51 (PC version, 33 reviews).

While some international reviews note that the game “nails the basics almost perfectly” and that “its simple, streamlined approach—despite its limited scope—has a refreshing charm,” critical comments such as “the ideas don’t blend well with the gameplay,” “it’s riddled with bugs,” and “it’s overly simplistic and monotonous” stand out.

Bankruptcy Reports

Although the company managed to bring *Samson* to release despite struggling—including reports of deteriorating financial conditions even during development—international media outlet Insider Gaming has reported that local Swedish media have published articles stating the company has gone bankrupt.

Employee salaries have reportedly gone unpaid for several months, and approximately 30 employees are set to receive government assistance. It has also been reported that the company is seeking a buyer.

As mentioned above, given the harsh reviews of their debut title, comments such as “This comes as no surprise” have been posted on the international forum Reddit.

Although the official X account posted a guide on October 9, no announcements regarding this matter have been made as of the time of this writing.

"Samson" is currently available for Windows (Steam, Epic Games Store) and PS5/Xbox Series X|S in international markets.
