The indie game brand ARTODRIA has announced that it will launch a crowdfunding campaign for the romance visual novel *Art Club Girlfriend -Girlfailure Art Club-* on CAMPFIRE starting October 24, 2026.

All the heroines are “embarrassing otaku girls”! The game is generating buzz for its quirky characters, including a “tough-talking” girl who delivers sharp comebacks.

This title is a romance visual novel based on the concept that all the heroines are “embarrassing otaku girls.”

The player (the protagonist) is a male student who quit the tennis club because he couldn’t fit in with its cheerful atmosphere and joined the art club at Akiba Municipal High School in accordance with the school’s rule requiring students to join a club.In the clubroom—where he was the only boy—he found four otaku girls waiting for him: Rinne, a “boku-girl” subculture enthusiast; Shoko, a “tough-talking” tomboy; Kana, a mysterious girl with a moe voice; and Yurie, a “dream girl” with a sinister smile.

The protagonist is given the humiliating nickname “Prince-senpai” by them and spends his days being treated like a plaything.

In the game, you deepen your bonds with them by sharing sketchbooks, going to karaoke, and visiting anime shops, and depending on the player’s choices, the story branches into six different endings—plus a few extras.Note that Yurie, the club president, is a “dream girl” obsessed with “Tobari Kyoya” from *The Hitman D-Bone*, and since the protagonist has no chance of beating Tobari, she is not a romance option.

The scenario is written by Uka Todoki, who heads ARTODRIA.

She published the novel *You Made Me Human* in 2021, which was nominated as a reference work for the 53rd Seiun Award, and in this project, she serves as director, character designer, scenario writer, and scriptwriter.Ms. Todoki, who was a member of her school’s art club during her student days, weaves elements of Heisei-era otaku culture into her portrayal of a “painfully cute coming-of-age story.”

For 10 million yen, Mr. Tenmon will compose an original theme song and background music

The crowdfunding campaign, which begins on October 24, will run until December 26. The funding goal is 2 million yen, and the project will proceed even if the goal is not met, using an “all-in” funding model.

As for the development status, the script has been finalized, graphics are 40% complete, script implementation is 10% complete, and translation is 15% complete. This crowdfunding campaign aims to achieve levels of expression and multilingual support that would be difficult to realize on an independent developer’s budget. The funds raised will be used for development costs—including the production of illustrations and music, translation and proofreading, and testing—as well as for public relations and the production and shipping of rewards.

Stretch goals have been set as follows, based on the total amount of funding raised:

  • 2 million yen: Add 10 event stills to the main game (increasing the total from approximately 30 to 40)

  • 5 million yen: Translation into new languages in addition to the planned 6 languages

  • 8 million yen: Production of additional stills for the opening movie and enhancement of the video content

  • 10 million yen: Production of an original theme song and background music composed by Tenmon

Currently, the game’s BGM uses royalty-free music. If the final stretch goal of 10 million yen is reached, composer Amamon—a former member of Nihon Falcom who has composed music for director Makoto Shinkai’s works, including the film *5 Centimeters Per Second*, as well as titles such as *ef* and *eden*—will compose an original theme song and background music for this game.

Steam keys start at 6,000 yen, along with student ID-style cards and original art cards

There are a total of 16 reward tiers available, ranging from the 3,000-yen Digital Support Plan to the 500,000-yen Original Artwork Set (Gold).A thank-you message, a crowdfunding-exclusive group illustration wallpaper, access to the backers-only development blog, and a credit in the end roll are included with all plans, while plans of 6,000 yen or more come with a Steam key.

Merchandise includes a “Prince Senpai Student ID-Style Card” with a serial number, a school crest-style pin, acrylic stands, and acrylic dioramas.

Plans of 200,000 yen or more also include a custom-drawn shikishi where you can request a specific character. Rewards are scheduled to be shipped sequentially starting in February 2027.

The campaign also supports contributions from overseas via Tenso.com, so we expect to receive enthusiastic support from international fans as well. Additionally, fans who have supported development via FANBOX will receive individual rewards based on their total contribution amount.

"Art Club Girlfriend -Girlfailure Art Club-" is scheduled for release on PC (Steam) in 2027. The price has not yet been determined.

The crowdfunding campaign will begin on October 24, 2026, on CAMPFIRE.
