SUNSOFT’s official X account reported that an advertisement featuring an image of its merchandise, “Bamboo Spear Puni-Puni,” was flagged as “adult content.”
Sexualized depictions both in and out of the game… “Bamboo Spear” merchandise from *Ikki* classified as adult content
“Bamboo Spear Puni-Puni” is one of the merchandise items included in the limited-edition “Collector’s Box” of *SUNSOFT is Back! Retro Game Selection 2*, a bundle of multiple games scheduled for release on December 17.

It is modeled after the bamboo spear from *Ikki*, one of the titles included in the collection, and features a “tubular design with a large hole at the top.” On October 15, 2026, a demonstration video was released showing someone holding it in one hand and squeezing it to make it “squishy.”
However, when an image from that demonstration was used in an advertisement for the limited edition, the ad was reportedly taken down after being flagged as adult content. The comments section of the post is filled with users who “somehow find it understandable,” and many seem to be associating it with some kind of “other merchandise.”
Incidentally, on the topic of adult-related content, the same X account recently lamented—with a passionate “Whyyyyyyyy?!?”—that the game had been rated “Ages 12 and up” and classified as “Sexual” during the CERO rating review.
“SUNSOFT is Back! Retro Game Selection 2,” which has been classified as “sexual” both within and outside the game, is scheduled for release on December 17 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows (Steam).
*UPDATE (October 17, 2026, 1:36 PM): We have corrected the Japanese phrasing in the main text. Thank you for pointing this out in the comments section.
