On October 16, Keen Games released the official Version 1.0 of the open-world survival action RPG *Enshrouded: Kingdom of Mist* for PC (Steam) and PS5.
The survival ARPG played by over 5 million people is finally here
Set on a vast, voxel-based continent known as Embervale, this game blends survival, action-RPG combat, building, and crafting. It also supports cooperative play, allowing up to 16 players simultaneously on PC and up to 8 on PS5.
Players take on the role of “Framebone,” the last hope for a race on the brink of extinction, and team up with others to explore this epic world and restore the beauty of a kingdom lost to the terror of the “Shroud,” a fog that brings ruin.
The game launched in Early Access on Steam in January 2024 and has since attracted over 5 million players. It has garnered approximately 95,000 user reviews on Steam and holds a “Very Positive” rating, with 86% of reviewers recommending it.
During the Early Access period, eight major content updates were released, adding three new biomes, monsters, new weapons, armor, creatures, building materials, and numerous decorative items. Furthermore, the developers state that they have implemented dynamic water effects—a technically challenging feat for a voxel-based game.
In combat, you’ll face off against factions corrupted by the Shroud and vicious bosses. By mastering dodging, parrying, skills, and spells, you can develop your own unique combat style as a Wizard, Ranger, or Warrior.
On the building front, you can construct magnificent structures using powerful voxel-based building tools and freely customize them down to the finest details. By welcoming NPCs, you’ll unlock workshops, expanding your options for crafting legendary gear.

Game*Spark has published a review of the full release. The review praised the game’s open-ended adventure with diverse playstyles, the wealth of content, and the game’s improvements. While noting some concerns about the Japanese translation, it awarded the game a score of 9.
At the time of writing, Metacritic has collected 9 reviews for the PC version, with a Metascore of 89. Critics seem to be praising the game’s exploration, building, freedom, and the fact that it can be enjoyed in both solo and multiplayer modes.
Additionally, according to the unofficial database site SteamDB, the Steam version—which has just officially launched—is seeing a peak of approximately 65,000 concurrent players.
*Enshrouded: Kingdom of Mist* is currently available on PC (Steam) and PS5. The Xbox Series X|S version is scheduled for release in spring 2027. Cross-play support is currently planned, but the exact timing has not been confirmed.
