Formirai has released a demo version of the rhythm adventure game *Morpho Reverie*, developed by Spectra Motif Studio, for PC (Steam).
A sci-fi mystery where AI replicas and humans face off through art
This title is a music adventure game depicting a musical showdown between AI and humans. It combines rhythm game elements with a visual novel, featuring playable music segments that align with the story’s progression and “Anomaly Effects” that trigger depending on the situation.
The protagonist, Rain, accompanies her childhood friend Kiva to a music competition hosted by the major corporation “Etha,” but Kiva suddenly vanishes in the middle of the competition. Furthermore, Etha has created an AI replica, “Kiva α,” who is the spitting image of her.
Amid a torrential downpour, Zeldan, the chairman of Ether, announces a showdown between humans and AI replicas through the medium of art.
Meanwhile, as Rain searches for Kiva, she witnesses shocking footage related to her. The footage shows the moment Kiva took her own life.
You can select the protagonist’s gender before the story begins. Even if you’re new to rhythm games, you can easily enjoy the story using AUTO PLAY mode.
Another highlight is the star-studded voice cast, featuring Aoi Ichikawa, Shion Wakayama, Madoka Yonezawa, Kaito Ishikawa, and Chika Anzai.
The full version of the approximately 10-minute epic track “Piano History,” complete with special effects, is included.
In the demo version, you can play all 11 songs plus the main story corresponding to Chapter 1 of the full game for free.
Three of the tracks are collaboration songs with the “AD:PIANO” series from Diverse System, an indie label known for providing music to rhythm games.In particular, “Piano History” by Sakuzyo condenses 250 years of piano history into about 10 minutes, and in this game, you can play the entire track without any cuts.
The sheet music also features special visual effects. As the song progresses, the background and effects change one after another, allowing players to enjoy visuals that trace the evolution of art history.
In addition to the main story, the demo version includes an exclusive, fully voiced bonus story. Set in a different world, it features the main characters awakening to mysterious psychic powers—offering a story with a distinct flavor from the main campaign. It’s said to also contain hidden puzzle-solving elements.
In addition to tracks by a stellar lineup of composers, the game also features a theme song performed by Madoka Yonezawa.
In the rhythm game sections, you can play tracks by ARForest, BlackY, onoken, Osamu Kubota, and Chiharu Kaneko. The lineup includes songs making their rhythm game debut as well as tracks composed specifically for this title.
The theme song “Renascens,” sung by Madoka Yonezawa (who voices Kiva), is also one of the tracks available to play in the demo.
