Publisher Sega and developer Creative Assembly have announced the latest information regarding the strategy game *Total War: Shogun II Complete Edition*, which was released on October 14, 2026.
A “Overwhelmingly Negative” Start on Steam
This title is the definitive edition of *Total War: Shogun II*, originally released in 2011, bundling the base game and its DLCs while incorporating various updates and improvements. It features a variety of new elements and updates, including graphical improvements, support for 1440p and 4K scaling, the addition of new playable clans, and support for Japanese and Chinese.
However, since its release on October 14, 2026, it has received an “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating on Steam User Reviews, marking a rough start.Reasons cited for the low ratings include “bugs from the original version haven’t been fixed, and new bugs have appeared” and “the game runs slowly.” Additionally, while the game supports mods via Mod.io, it has been noted that these are incompatible with mods created for the original version.
Sales of the Complete Edition Have Been Temporarily Suspended; Sales of the Original Edition Will Resume
According to a statement released by Sega, after receiving various feedback from the community, the company has temporarily suspended sales of the Complete Edition to investigate the cause and is working with various platforms to resume distribution of the Original Edition.
Players who already own *Total War: Shogun II Complete Edition* can continue to play the game. Sega states that it will work closely with its development partners to identify the cause and implement improvements, striving to provide players with “the quality befitting the *Total War* series.”
