With the start of the new season for Electronic Arts’ *Battlefield 6*, “suspicions that generative AI was used” have surfaced regarding certain designs—such as skins—and are generating buzz, primarily within the overseas community.

“Five-Gun,” “SECUTY,” and mismatched magazines: “AI-generated” suspicions spread throughout the community

Season 5 of *BF6*, which kicked off on October 13, not only introduces large-scale maps set in Las Vegas—such as “The Vegas Strip” and “Area 51”—but will also roll out new weapons, a collaboration with *Dead Space*, and various improvements in phases.

In addition, the Battle Pass has been updated to coincide with the arrival of the new season. “VIGIL,” a new NATO unit supporting defense efforts in Las Vegas, has made its debut. However, it is the VIGIL operator skins obtainable through the Battle Pass that are at the center of the “AI-generated” suspicions causing a stir in the community.

On the international forum Reddit and IGN, several examples of puzzling designs have been cited regarding this Battle Pass skin. The first is the “Midnight Mirage” skin for Support operators, which features not only a pistol in a hip holster but also four pistols mounted on the tactical vest.

This peculiar equipment and layout, combined with the mask’s distinctive “Batman-like” design, has sparked discussion on Reddit, with comments referencing Gaz’s line from the *CoD* series—“switching to your pistol is faster than reloading”—as well as remarks that the character “looks like a pirate.”

Furthermore, some users have posted images where every pocket is a pistol, as well as joke images where the character’s entire body appears to be covered in pistols.

This skin isn’t the only one drawing suspicion. The community has also pointed out issues with the default skins for “Vigil” characters McNeill and Van Hassel.

In McNeill’s (Support) skin, the armband on his left shoulder reads “SECUTY” instead of “SECURITY” (though “SECURITY OPERATOR” below it is spelled correctly). This has sparked various debates: Is it simply a typo, evidence of AI generation, or perhaps the name of an organization?

Additionally, regarding the design of Van Hassel’s (Engineer) default skin, some have pointed out the imbalance in the design, noting that “while he is fully clad in body armor, his head remains unprotected.”

Furthermore, criticism has been directed at the fact that the character is equipped with a magazine for the “Luger 10/22”—a weapon that does not appear in the game—which primarily uses “.22 caliber rounds” used mainly for pest control.and is equipped with a “Luger 10/22” magazine—a weapon that does not appear in the game—has also drawn criticism, with some users quipping, “If it’s .22 caliber, you’d probably need two magazines just to get one kill.”

Whether these design elements are the result of a mistake or the use of generative AI… as user interest grows, IGN has reached out to Electronic Arts for comment.

In the past, the company stated that “AI-generated content will not appear in ‘BF6’”

If these cosmetic items were indeed created using generative AI, it would contradict past statements. In October 2025, an article titled “Huge buzz but a big gamble: Battlefield 6 takes aim at Call of Duty” published by the BBC featured an interview with the ‘BF6’ development team, during which Rebecka Coutaz, Vice President and General Manager at DICE, addressed the topic of generative AI.

During the interview, Ms. Coutaz stated, “Players will not see anything generated by AI in ‘BF6,’” revealing that it is used solely to stimulate creativity during the game’s development phase.
