"It turned out to be a disaster." "Earth Punishment" developer Hytacka suddenly announces a new game—a story-driven title featuring a hitman and a mysterious murder?

Hytacka, a former FromSoftware employee known as the developer of the ARPG *Rise of Rebellion: When the Earth’s Punishment Rises, the Dragon Descends*, has released a trailer for his upcoming new game, *OVERSEEKER*.

A Shift in Direction from the Previous Title, *Earth’s Punishment*?

“Rise of Rebellion: When the Earth’s Punishment Rises, the Dragon Descends,” released by Kodansha in April 2025, suffered a “catastrophic flop,” with first-week sales falling far short of its target.

In the “Earth Punishment” overview video, Hytacka stated that support for the game would end after only minimal adjustments, and regarding his next project, he said, “I’m going to be incredibly particular about quality.” The trailer released this time is seen as offering a glimpse into that vision.

A story depicting a professional hitman and a forbidden murder

The released trailer is approximately 9 minutes and 20 seconds long and consists of dialogue scenes that hint at the story.

The trailer begins with a scene in which a character named “Heat” confronts his sister, “Ivy,” a female hitwoman. Ivy has killed “Keegan,” who appears to have been her husband, and Heat presses her, saying, presses her, saying, “We’re professionals. We don’t kill outside of work,” but Ivy replies, “This is the first time I’ve killed someone for myself.”

Their confrontation escalates into a physical fight, after which a mysterious building appears. The trailer suggests that Ivy may have suffered amnesia. Toward the end of the trailer, a priest appears, along with keywords such as “tower” and “I have to find my sister,” hinting at the story’s broader scope.

It has also been revealed that Hytacka will serve as director, game designer, and co-writer.
