"Hogwarts Legacy," an open-world RPG developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros.NVIDIA announced on its news page that an update supporting DLSS 5 and 3D-guided neural rendering for the game will be released on November 5, 2026.
Although previous demo videos were criticized for “facial discrepancies,” adjustments will be made in the final release.
DLSS 5 is a technology available on the RTX 5000 series and other compatible graphics cards. It uses neural rendering technology to further enhance the game’s graphics by adding highly detailed frames and additional details.
Regarding DLSS 5, NVIDIA released a technical demo in March 2026 that included *Hogwarts Legacy*, but at that time, it faced criticism such as “character expressions look completely different with DLSS 5 turned on versus off.”

However, looking at the comparison images from NVIDIA’s latest announcement, it appears that DLSS improves image quality while preserving the look and feel of the original graphics, and character expressions no longer appear altered.Regarding these changes, the announcement stated, “Avalanche Software utilized the DLSS 5 SDK controls to fine-tune the integration while maintaining the game’s artistic intent and style.”
International media outlets such as The Verge and VideoCardz have both commented that “facial expressions no longer look completely different, as they did in the March demo footage,” suggesting that the international press is also surprised by this latest announcement.
NVIDIA had previously announced that “control over DLSS 5 would be left to the artists,” and the DLSS 5 adjustments in *Hogwarts Legacy* certainly seem to prove that point.
The DLSS 5 update for the PC version of *Hogwarts Legacy* will be released on November 5.
