"Hood Warfare 2," a competitive FPS developed and published by Trapstar Games, was released on Steam on October 9, 2026.Although it’s a low-priced FPS available in the U.S. for around $5 (790 yen in Japan, or 711 yen with a 10% discount), it’s showing signs of becoming a hit, with its peak concurrent players on Steam exceeding 10,000.
Are pro gamers jumping in too!? The game is gaining traction thanks to its smooth controls

This title is a “Call of Duty”-style competitive FPS. Players join one of two rival gangs in the streets of Chicago and battle it out across six different game modes.
One of the catalysts for the game’s popularity was a video posted on X by Merc, a former world champion in *Rainbow Six Siege*.His gameplay—dashing through the streets of Chicago with lightning-fast responsiveness and dominating the field—generated a huge buzz, with numerous replies asking, “What is this game?!” and Merc responding by naming the game.

The international media outlet Dexerto described the game, stating, “Some players have said that the sniping and movement mechanics are better than in *Call of Duty*, and that they’d rather play this than the upcoming *Modern Warfare 4*.”

The game’s concurrent user count is also growing day by day; according to the third-party site SteamDB, as of October 13, the 24-hour peak concurrent user count reached 11,742, surpassing the 10,000 mark. This title might just become a massive hit as an entertaining FPS despite its low price.
*Hood Warfare 2* is currently available on PC (Steam) for 790 yen (711 yen until October 16). It does not support Japanese.
