Culture Events
"LSDJAM," a game jam celebrating the release date of the original PlayStation's cult classic *LSD*, will be held again in 2026. A collection of "Dream Emulator"-style games is set to gather—participants are now being recruited.

"LSD," an adventure game released for the original PlayStation on October 22, 1998.Bearing the subtitle “Dream Emulator,” it is known as a bizarre game in which players wander aimlessly through a psychedelic world. A game jam event called “LSDJAM,” created as a tribute to this game, will be held again this year, 2026.

A Game Jam Paying Homage to the “Legendary Odd Game” Returns This Year

“LSDJAM” is a game jam organized annually by independent game developer Figglewatts, kicking off around October 22—the release date of *LSD*. Participants aim to create and submit a “Dream Emulator”-style game by March of the following year.

The official website features the following guidelines (excerpt):

  • There are no judges for this game jam, and there is no concept of “winning” or “losing.” Additionally, submitting games after the deadline is permitted.

  • The use of generative AI is explicitly prohibited for entries in this game jam.

  • Both solo and team projects are welcome.

  • You may use digital assets created by others.

  • If your entry contains sensitive content, please take care to ensure it isn’t overlooked (e.g., on the download page or at the beginning of the game).

  • Any game engine is acceptable—Godot, GameMaker, Ren’Py, or anything else. The most important thing is that players have fun.

Games like “Dream Fishing” have emerged—titles that actually made their way to Steam as a result of participating in this game jam.

While creating a game based on the theme of a “dream world” may seem challenging, if you’re a game developer who’s interested or feels inspired to create, why not give this game jam a try?

“LSDJAM 2026” is currently accepting participants on itch.io. The development period runs from October 22, 2026, to March 1, 2027 (as mentioned earlier, there are no penalties for late submissions).
