At the “M2 Shot Triggers 10th Anniversary Thank You Festival ~Let’s Jailbreak Together!!” held on October 10, 2026, announced a home console port of the vertical-scrolling shooter *DEVIL BLADE REBOOT*, titled *DEVIL BLADE REBOOT Consumer Edition (tentative)*.
A teaser PV was released to coincide with the announcement, and a live gameplay demonstration of the PS4 version was also shown during the event, showcasing the game in action. However, the porting process has proven more difficult than expected, and it appears it will still take some time to complete.
The Highly Acclaimed STG Born from “Desaemon+” Is Coming to Home Consoles!
“DEVIL BLADE REBOOT” is a vertical-scrolling shooter independently developed by Shigatake, a graphic designer at Vanillaware who worked on titles such as “13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim” and “Unicorn Overlord.”
The original game, *Devil Blade*, was created in 1996 using the *Desaemon+* shoot ’em up development software for the original PlayStation. In May 2024, a full remake featuring intricate pixel art and impressive pseudo-3D effects was released for PC (Steam).

This game focuses on the fundamental fun of shoot ’em ups: “dodging, shooting, and destroying.” It features the “Berserk System,” where the closer you get to enemies to destroy them, the higher your score multiplier and difficulty become, allowing you to enjoy high-risk, high-reward gameplay where you deliberately plunge into danger.
In addition to Story Mode, where you clear all six stages, the game also includes “Retro Mode,” an adapted port of the original game. It has earned an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam.
PS4 Version Gameplay Footage Revealed! But the Port Is Proving More Challenging Than Expected
At this event, live gameplay using a version currently in development running on the PS4 was demonstrated. Information panels displaying player stats, score logs, and stage information can be seen on the left and right sides of the screen.

At first glance, it appears the game is already at a playable stage, but it’s reported that many challenges still remain in development. According to M2, the porting process from the “StgBuilder” game engine used in the PC version proved more difficult than anticipated.

This is a first-time endeavor for M2 as well, and they say they are proceeding without any reference material, such as past development case studies. It appears they are still feeling their way through various aspects of the project, including sound, graphics, and save data support.
Additionally, a comment from the game’s original creator, Mr. Shigatake, was shared at the event.
According to Mr. Shigatake, there have been many requests for a console version since the Steam version’s initial release in 2024. He himself had asked M2 to handle the port from the very beginning, expressing his hope that the game would be released before user enthusiasm waned.

“DEVIL BLADE REBOOT Consumer Edition (tentative title)” is currently in active development. Although live gameplay footage of the PS4 version was shown, no official release date, price, or full list of supported platforms has been revealed at this time.
The PC version of “DEVIL BLADE REBOOT” is currently available on Steam. Game*Spark has previously published a play report on the game.
