Team Empreintes is offering the mental wellness experience game *Fireside Feelings* for free on Steam until 2:00 a.m. on October 13.This promotion coincides with “World Mental Health Day” on October 10, and the developers have released a message stating, “If we can bring a little comfort to as many people as possible, we want to create that opportunity.”
A Unique Asynchronous Conversation Game
This game is a mental wellness experience where players enjoy conversations with others. In addition to customizing your character—who takes the form of a cute animal—you can also place items of your choice around the campfire, creating your own personal sanctuary.
You’ll converse with other players by answering various questions, but the conversations in this game aren’t real-time—they’re asynchronous, allowing you to take your time thinking before sending your response.
Furthermore, for safety reasons, all messages are reviewed and filtered, and personal settings are available to avoid specific topics.
A Message from the Developer
Regarding this free giveaway, the developer, Team Empreintes, posted a message on Steam explaining that October 10 is “World Mental Health Day.”
They also revealed that their motivation for developing this game—despite the challenges—stemmed from the belief that “there is a need for a place where strangers can empathize with one another.” They aimed to create a space that, unlike existing social media platforms, is not focused on persuading others, proving oneself right, or winning arguments.
While acknowledging that the game “cannot be called a financial success,” the developers stated that reading messages from players—such as “my loneliness has eased a little”—made them realize, “You can’t even imagine how much we cried.”
Because of the nature of this game, they are also offering it for free, explaining, “If we can bring comfort to even a few more people, we want to create that opportunity.”
