On the “Triple-i Initiative Showcase,” which aired on October 9 at 1:00 a.m., CRITICAL REFLEX announced the first playable demo of *Militsioner*, developed by TALLBOYS, featuring the game’s first act, and began distributing it exclusively on Steam.

Escape by cable car from a town overlooked by a giant police officer

This game is an immersive sim set in a Kafkaesque and surreal world.

The player, arrested for a crime they didn’t commit, aims to escape the town while under the watchful eye of a giant police officer crouching in the town center.

In the demo, you can play Act 1, which marks the beginning of the story. This early part of the game involves meeting quirky NPCs and the giant police officer while learning how to survive on the streets. The demo features only one main escape route: boarding the cable car. However, there are many ways to reach it, and how you board is entirely up to your imagination.

The town’s residents each have their own emotions, and their attitudes change based on the player’s actions. You’re free to flatter them, deceive them, or anger them. NPCs go about their daily routines, so stealth is crucial in restricted areas. You can obtain supplies by stealing, but there’s always a price to pay.

And the giant police officers are always watching you. If you make too much noise or are caught breaking the law, they’ll move in to arrest you in an instant. To escape, you’ll have to run, hide, or seek refuge with allies. Here, too, your relationships with the townspeople will make all the difference.

You want to escape, but the giant police officers are a concern

Game*Spark tried out this game at the “Tokyo Game Show 2026” in September. The hands-on report introduces the early gameplay flow, where you encounter the giant police officer just a few seconds after starting and answer questions that feel like casual small talk. It touches on mechanics such as how the officer’s emotions change based on your chosen responses—displayed via pop-ups—and how ignoring emotions like “sadness” causes them to worsen.

We also confirmed elements where you interact with characters other than the police officer to gather information and items, or use your watch to fast-forward time, all while searching for clues to escape. You can experience this peculiar sensation—where you get so engrossed in conversations with the police officer that you completely forget about escaping—in this demo.

Key Features

• Non-linear action

You’re given the freedom to find your own solutions to the obstacles that stand in your way. You decide how to use your time, where to go, who to trust… or even who to turn in.Whether you run, hide, sneak in, offer bribes, lie, manipulate others to achieve your goals, or break the law to steal what you need—the choice is yours. You must discover both the risks and the rewards for yourself.

• “Tamagotchi”-Style Relationships

Every character—including the giant police officer—has their own mood, and you can influence that mood through a reactive dialogue system. Try to keep the residents happy by flattering them or giving them gifts. However, if you anger them, you risk being turned in to the authorities. Believe it or not, you can even go on a date with that giant. Just be very careful when he’s on duty…

• A Dynamic World and Exploration

The town is a living, ever-changing space, with new people, places, and secrets hidden everywhere. Each character follows their own schedule, and changing the time of day can sometimes reveal new clues to progress. Real-time events like floods may open up new areas, and a solar eclipse might bring a shocking surprise.

*Militsioner* is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), XBOX Series X|S, and XBOX One. The price has not yet been determined, and the game will be available on Game Pass from the release date. A demo is currently available on Steam.
