"Lazare's Sacrifice," a deck-building game featuring a "Gwent" designer, has been announced! Sacrifice both cards and lives to escape a prison set during the French Revolution—Coming Spring 2027 [Triple-i Initiative Showcase]

During the “Triple-i Initiative Showcase,” which aired on October 9 at 1:00 a.m., Curve Games announced the new game *Lazare’s Sacrifice*, developed by Dream Reality Interactive, for PC (Steam).

A French Revolution-themed prison deck-builder created in collaboration with the designer of *Gwent*

This title is a story-driven deck-builder created in collaboration with Damien Monnier, the game designer behind the original *Gwent* and *Gwent: The Witcher Card Game*.

Set during the French Revolution, the game takes place in Paris as the Reign of Terror rages. Players take on the role of General Lazare Osch, once hailed as a hero but now betrayed, as he awaits execution by guillotine in the Calme Prison.Your memories are fragmented, and the footsteps of a new guard—harboring some sinister scheme—echo through the eerie corridors.

The only way to escape this prison alive is through a life-or-death card duel. Every night, a new opponent appears; if you win, you survive another night, but if you lose, you’re off to the guillotine at dawn.Your opponents range from royalty to revolutionaries—historical figures from the French Revolution who are desperate to escape. Each possesses their own unique playing style and secrets.

The “Sacrifice” System: Offering Cards, Slots, and Health

At the heart of this game lies “Sacrifice,” which is also featured in the title. To summon a powerful figure onto the board, you must offer up your own resources—paying the price by discarding cards, giving up board slots, or even sacrificing your own health. The greater the sacrifice, the more powerful your move becomes; however, miscalculating the risk could cost you your life.

The defeated opponent is sent to the guillotine, and the victor can take any card from their deck to strengthen their own. You’ll need to master the four factions and uncover the cards hidden in the prison while devising the ultimate strategy.

Dave Ranyard, CEO of Dream Reality Interactive, explained that the goal was to force players to make tough trade-offs at critical moments and to give weight to every strategic choice. He also stated that he wanted to reimagine historical moments through the eyes of “forgotten heroes” like Lazare, who sacrificed everything in pursuit of a new France.

Explore the prison and uncover the conspiracy behind your imprisonment

Between card battles, you’ll explore the labyrinthine prison. Solve puzzles, gather information from figures whispering from behind walls, and piece together the truth behind the conspiracy that led to your imprisonment. Are the people you encounter allies, or are they traitors complicit in the conspiracy? Items you find during your exploration will also help give you an edge in card battles.

There are two game modes: “Story Mode,” which focuses on uncovering the truth behind Lazar’s story, and “Tower Mode,” where you test your tactical skills by taking on consecutive battles with a custom deck.

The developer, Dream Reality Interactive, is a studio founded in London in 2016 by veterans from PlayStation. The publisher, Curve Games, is known for titles such as *Human Fall Flat* and the *For The King* series.
