In an interview on the podcast “New Heights,” American actor and film director Ben Affleck discussed his connection to video games in relation to the inspiration for his new movie.
'Fortnite' Influences the Visuals of His New Movie

Ben Affleck is an American actor known for roles in films such as “Armageddon” and as Batman in “Justice League,” and has also achieved success as a director with films including “Argo.”In the interview, when asked about his new film “Animals”—currently streaming on Netflix—and the inspiration behind the characters who use animal costumes as masks, Affleck revealed that the concept originated in “Fortnite.”

Although Affleck himself enjoys the “2K” sports game series and first-person shooters, he said the catalyst for this came from spending time with his son, who is obsessed with “Fortnite.”Affleck described how, upon seeing his son—who was obsessed with *Fortnite*—declare that a player character wearing “a rabbit mask and a tutu” was “tough!”—he was inspired to incorporate that mismatched, eccentric look into the visual design of a character in the film.Incidentally, his son apparently asked him for a skin worth $300 for Christmas, to which Affleck responded with a very parental reaction: “Even though it’s not a real thing…”

Behind the cool persona, did he let slip an F-word in response to a kid’s taunt!?
As a side note, Affleck also shared an anecdote about his own FPS gameplay. While stating, “I think I’m pretty good,” he self-deprecatingly revealed a moment when a teenager got a kill on him and taunted him, prompting him to retort, “I’m an adult here!”—complete with the F-word.
Affleck’s new movie “Animals,” which offers a glimpse into his down-to-earth side as a gamer behind his cool on-screen persona, is now streaming on NETFLIX.
