Texel Raptor, the indie developer behind *Parkitect*, has released the latest trailer for its new single-player city-building strategy game, *Croakwood*.
A laid-back city-building game where you can either focus on optimization or simply enjoy the view
Development began in late 2020, and the game was officially announced in 2024; now, the latest trailer has been released. This trailer shows a small settlement gradually developing into a town.

No rush, no combat
While the game features management elements common to city-building strategy games—such as gathering, processing, and producing resources, as well as fulfilling residents’ requests through various commands—it is characterized by a game design that allows players to leisurely build their own ideal city. This is achieved through features like a pace-free gameplay experience and a high degree of building customization, as described below.
According to one of the studio’s co-founders, the game wasn’t intentionally designed to be laid-back from the start; rather, it evolved that way as a result of eliminating the military elements that were common in strategy games at the time—elements the developer personally found uncomfortable and unappealing. The developer also revealed that they are committed to creating a game that remains thoroughly enjoyable without neglecting the core gameplay mechanics of a city-building strategy title.
