Polylab Studio has released a demo version of the tactical mecha shoot 'em up *Iron Dawn* on Steam.

Take control of a combat mech with unique controls and complete your missions!

In this game, you play as a mercenary pilot operating a combat mech to complete various missions.

You’ll control the mech using a somewhat complex control scheme—using the mouse to operate the turret and aim, and WASD to move—to complete missions such as eliminating enemies.

The mecha you pilot consists of four parts—the turret, the fuselage, and the main and secondary weapons—each of which can be swapped out. With different configurations—such as bipedal, quadrupedal, or tracked—each offering distinct characteristics, it’s crucial to reconfigure your mecha to suit the mission.

Furthermore, you can completely destroy not only enemies but also structures found on each stage. You can wreak havoc however you please—such as triggering a chain reaction by setting fuel tanks ablaze to wipe out enemies in one fell swoop, or trampling partially damaged buildings to deliver a finishing blow.

Missions are primarily combat-focused, such as “Destroy a certain number of enemies or structures” or “The more you destroy, the higher the reward.” While enemy mechs are a different story, tanks and infantry can be taken down simply by running them over, so depending on the enemy, it can be a good strategy to deliberately use boost movement to engage in close combat.

However, if you get caught in a chain reaction from explosives, your character will take massive damage, and with your starting equipment, being too greedy can lead to you being overwhelmed by enemy numbers—so the difficulty is somewhat high. It’s crucial to know when to cut your losses: whether to hold out until the last possible moment or play it safe and retreat early.

Skillfully lure enemies into triggering chain reactions that blow up surrounding buildings along with them, leaving nothing but a pile of rubble in their wake. The addictive thrill of pulling off such tactics in the tactical mech shoot ’em up *Iron Dawn* is set for release on Steam for PC during the fourth quarter of 2026.
