"GTA 6": You Might Be Able to Play It via Cloud Gaming Without Waiting for the PC Version? Overseas Reports Say Xbox Has Secured Exclusive Streaming Rights [UPDATE]

The Verge, an international media outlet, reports that Xbox has secured exclusive streaming rights for *Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)*, scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, by Rockstar Games.

With no PC version announced yet, players will have the option to play via the cloud

According to The Verge, Xbox CEO Archa Sharma stated during an all-hands meeting with employees on October 6 (local time) that the company is preparing initiatives regarding *GTA 6* that other platform holders do not have. The publication reports, citing sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans, that the company has successfully secured exclusive streaming rights for the title.

A PC version of the game has not yet been announced, and if this information is accurate, Xbox Cloud Gaming will be the only service capable of streaming *GTA 6* via the cloud at launch. While *The Verge* notes that the duration of the agreement is unknown, it suggests this move will provide a means for PC users who do not own an Xbox Series X|S or PS5 to play the game via the cloud.

Additionally, according toWindows Central, Mr. Sharma also mentioned the next-generation Xbox, “Project Helix,” during the meeting. He reportedly indicated a strategy to roll out multiple devices for the next generation and stated that playing on the go is also being considered.

He noted that in addition to devices manufactured in-house, there will also be devices developed in collaboration with partner companies, and that details will be shared as the plan progresses.

Changes to Cloud Gaming Usage Coming in November

In November, when “GTA 6” is scheduled for release, changes to the Xbox Cloud Gaming usage policy are also planned. This system will allow users—even those without a Game Pass subscription—to purchase playtime from the Xbox Store and stream compatible games they own on supported devices.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that monthly usage limits will be imposed on existing Game Pass subscribers: 15 hours per month for Ultimate, 10 hours per month for Premium, and 5 hours per month for Essential. Once these limits are reached, users will be able to purchase additional playtime (details such as pricing and eligible regions will be announced separately).

*Update (October 7, 2026, 1:30 PM): After reports from The Verge went viral, Xbox CSO Matthew Ball addressed the matter, posting that “some misreporting has been observed.”

According to him, cloud streaming for this title will not be exclusive, nor will it be available on PC. However, as the statement was deemed vague, the post received replies such as, “Please clarify whether the game supports streaming via Xbox Cloud Gaming and whether it can be streamed on a PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming.”
