Hideo Kojima, director at Kojima Productions, discussed the new spy action game *PHYSINT*, currently in development, during Episode 36 of the radio show “Koj10: Hideo Kojima’s ‘Let’s Make It the Best 10 O’Clock,’” which aired on October 5.
A scene where he was stunned by the unannounced cast
*PHYSINT* is an action-espionage game announced in 2024. It made headlines in September 2026 when the partnership shifted to Xbox. Regarding this, Director Kojima stated on the show, “We apologize for causing you concern.”
Additionally, the program described the game as “a title that evokes the roots of the Metal Gear series, as is characteristic of Director Kojima’s work,” and noted that it is “currently in production with the goal of creating a new interactive experience.” Regarding this title, Director Kojima commented that he wants to “create a spy action game that’s a little different—or rather, quite different—by incorporating new elements.”
He also spoke about the game’s production, prefacing his remarks by saying, “It wasn’t intentional,” but noting that this year marks the 40th anniversary of his entry into the gaming industry in 1986, making this title an unintended milestone.
Later in the program, the conversation turned to casting. While the selection of Bill Skarsgård for the lead role is still fresh in everyone’s memory, Kojima shared information about additional cast members—who have not yet been announced—with program partners TBS announcer Maonko Hibi and TBS Drama Production Department’s Yohei Miyazaki, on the condition that they keep it confidential.
Although viewers won’t know the specifics, there was a scene where the two were left speechless by the sheer star power of the lineup. It was also mentioned that about 70% of these cast members are “fans of Director Kojima.”
