On October 2, Shozo Machida of Studio Wild Rose revealed that, as a new development for the dark RPG *PENNY BLOOD*, a novel titled *Penny Blood: Reviolence* is currently in production.
*Penny Blood* Expands Through Games and Novels

*Penny Blood* is a dark RPG set against the backdrop of the “Roaring Twenties,” an iconic portrayal of the 1920s. It is characterized by cosmic horror elements reminiscent of the *Shadow Hearts* series and intense combat centered around “Psycho-Sigils.”
Ahead of the main game, the roguelike action title “PENNY BLOOD: HELLBOUND,” which serves as a prequel, was officially released in December 2024 onSteam.
Additionally, the spin-off novel series “Penny Blood: Inheritors Story” has been released as e-books, depicting the game’s world from a different perspective than the main story.
The main game still lacks a publisher
Meanwhile, Mr. Machida reported that, amid the challenging industry conditions, a publisher has yet to be found. While he stated that his desire to bring the project to life remains unchanged, he declined to answer questions regarding the campaign as a whole, citing a lack of information to share. In a blog post from March of this year, the company explained that while it is in regular discussions with several companies, investors tend to shy away from investing in new IPs for RPGs due to their high development costs.
Under these circumstances, the company states that it is proceeding with the production of the novel “Penny Blood: Reviolence” as an initiative to raise awareness and increase the value of the IP, ultimately leading to game development.
In August 2022, the company launched a joint Kickstarter campaign for this project with “Armed Fantasia,” created by Akifumi Kaneko and others from the “Wild Arms” series. However, the planned March 2025 release was postponed. In August of that same year, it was revealed that the funds raised would be exhausted by the fall of 2023, and that Mr. Machida and Art Director Miyako Kato were injecting their own funds into the project.
Additionally, regarding *Armed Fantasia*, developed by Wild Bunch Productions, Digital Bros—the parent company of 505 Games—stated in its financial report on September 24 that it had decided to cancel development.
"Penny Blood" has been announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC; the release date and price are yet to be determined.
