When you look at the photos Director Hideo Kojima, the game creator, posts on social media, there’s almost always someone standing right next to him, isn’t there? Film directors, actors, game creators—and sometimes even mysterious figures. In this series, “Hideo Next Door,” we’ll take an in-depth look at the “people next to him.”

To be honest, the ultimate goal of the Game*Spark writers penning this “Hideo Next Door” series is to one day stand next to Director Hideo Kojima ourselves, have our photo taken with him, and appear as a character in “A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME.”We’ll be bringing you this series on an irregular basis until that long-cherished dream comes true.

This installment of “The Person Next to Director Kojima” features Tilda Swinton!

Tilda Swinton is an actress who has continued to work primarily in film. Her notable works include *The Fixer*, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress; *Constantine*, starring Keanu Reeves; and the *Chronicles of Narnia* series, in which she played the White Witch.

She has also appeared in Marvel films, playing the role of the Ancient One in *Doctor Strange* and *Avengers: Endgame*.

Her Relationship with Hideo Kojima

Director Kojima has long been an open admirer of Tilda Swinton. A clear example of this can be found in this video, which is available on YouTube.

This is the sixth episode of “HideoTube,” a YouTube series Director Kojima launched shortly after going independent. Titled “A Treasure of the Nordics: Mads Mikkelsen Special,” the first half of the video featured a special appearance by Mads Mikkelsen himself, making it a truly star-studded episode.

The second half of the video featured a discussion about films starring Mads Mikkelsen. When the conversation turned to *Doctor Strange*, Director Kojima mentioned the Ancient One—played by Tilda Swinton—as the protagonist’s mentor and stated that she is one of his favorite actors.

Furthermore, discussions about Tilda Swinton’s films frequently appear on Director Kojima’s X account. In 2022, he posted that his favorite film of hers was *Only Lovers Left Alive*, in which Tilda Swinton played the vampire Eve.

The next major development came in August 2026. A photo of him with Tilda Swinton—believed to have been taken in London based on surrounding posts—was shared.

Then, about a month and a half after that photo—in October 2026—she posted the photo we’re discussing here. Since a photo of the Royal Court Theatre in the UK was posted prior to this one, it appears this photo was also taken in or around London.

Incidentally, the Royal Court Theatre is currently staging “Man to Man,” a one-woman play starring Tilda Swinton. Perhaps the photo was taken when he attended a performance—either as a guest or on his own.

What are the chances she’ll appear in Hideo Kojima’s new game…?

The probability of Tilda Swinton appearing in the new game is 65% (calculated using a proprietary formula devised by Spa-kun). First of all, the fact that Director Kojima has named her as one of his favorite actresses is a major boost for her potential appearance.

It’s also intriguing that photos have been posted twice in quick succession since the start of 2026. While it seems highly likely that this latest photo was simply taken as a memento of attending the play, it’s not impossible to interpret it as a series of meetings regarding a potential role.

That said, we haven’t found any photos of her with the familiar Ludens statue or the signboard, so it doesn’t appear she’s visited the Kojima Productions studio yet. It might be possible to rent equipment and a studio in London to do a scan… but since it doesn’t seem like any 3D data scanning or filming has taken place so far, we’ve set the probability slightly lower.

That said, the fact that they’re meeting at this pace gives me a hunch that they might be discussing a role of some significance… I’ll be keeping a close eye on whether Tilda Swinton will continue to appear in Director Kojima’s *X*.

In September 2026, there was a major uproar when the publishing partner for the new title *PHYSINT* switched from PlayStation to Xbox, but Director Kojima seems to be getting back to his normal routine.

In any case, fans’ biggest concern is likely what the two titles, *OD* and *PHYSINT*, will turn out to be. Although some unexpected news came out in September, we can’t wait for the day when details about the games are revealed.

Well then, stay tuned for the next installment of “Hideo Next Door”!
