"Sonic," "Yakuza," "Persona"... There Are Too Many Titles!! "SEGA STORE OSAKA," a Permanent Store That Will Delight Sega Fans, Opens! A Report from the Preview Event

SEGA’s permanent merchandise store, “SEGA STORE OSAKA,” opened today, October 2, on the 6th floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO in Osaka.

Game*Spark attended the media preview held the day before the opening. In this article, we’ll take you inside SEGA STORE OSAKA—now officially open—with photos.

Packed to the brim with Sega and Atlus IP merchandise! There’s so much to see, it’s hard to know where to look first…!!

First, at the store entrance, a giant screen displaying Sega/Atlus game characters and a massive “Sonic the Hedgehog” statue greet visitors.

Surrounding the statue are piles of plush toys featuring characters from the *Sonic* series—such as Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow—as well as new plush toys created in collaboration with collage artist Kosuke Kawamura. So cute!

New products. The black-and-white collages are so stylish!

Of course, the store isn’t just about “Sonic”—shelves are lined with merchandise featuring various iconic IPs from Sega and Atlus, including the “Yakuza” and “Persona” series, as well as “Puyo Puyo,” “Angry Birds,”and “Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku.”

“There are so many titles—way too many…!!” Any Sega fan would likely let out a happy scream at the sight.

The “Sonic” x Osaka collaboration designs are also available on T-shirts.

In the *Persona* corner, a bear statue greets visitors. This is also a very large statue.

There was also apparel from the *Persona 5 The Royal* × “beautiful people” collaboration, whose promotional video was playing on in-store monitors. According to the Q&A session held later, this marks the first time SEGA STORE has sold such fashionable items. It’s your chance to see these luxurious apparel items in person!

Let’s take a closer look at these must-see items

And I also discovered “SEGA LABBIES™,” a line of products featuring a “bear plushie” motif!

I’m highlighting this with a little trivia: these items were given by Sonic to Hachiemon, the mascot character of “Kantele,” during the “Sonic Experiences Osaka’s Entertainment Frontlines” event held in August 2026 to commemorate the opening of SEGA STORE OSAKA…

And my personal recommendation is the section featuring merchandise from Sega’s past game consoles and game titles. Acrylic keychains shaped like Dreamcast game jackets and “Out Run” apparel are sure to delight even Sega’s most dedicated fans.

The stylish designs are so subtle that you might not realize at first glance they’re game-themed.

Furthermore, the store is unveiling brand-new merchandise never seen before, including exclusive local items that showcase the essence of Osaka—such as takoyaki, Tsutenkaku, and Kani Doraku—as well as “BLOFFFu,” a new hybrid toy that combines a plush figure with a molded body.

This store isn’t just a copy of the Tokyo location—it’s packed with charm unique to Osaka that you won’t find in Tokyo.

It’s packed with Osaka-exclusive merchandise you can only buy here!

Additionally, during the opening ceremony held at the preview event, three executives took the stage: Mr. Shuji Utsumi, Representative Director, President, and COO of SEGA; Mr. Justin Scarpone, Managing Executive Officer and Head of the Transmedia Division; and Mr. Takashi Sugawara, Store Manager of Shinsaibashi PARCO.

At times sprinkling their remarks with unique Kansai dialect, they spoke to the press about the highlights unique to the flagship store, the perfect match between the “Yakuza” series and Osaka, and how one of the catalysts for opening the store was the pop-up shop held at Shinsaibashi PARCO.

They pierced takoyaki with bamboo skewers to celebrate the opening and pray for a prosperous business!

Afterward, to celebrate the store’s opening, they performed a “kagami-biraki” ceremony alongside Sonic. Instead of a traditional sake barrel, the “kagami-biraki” was performed using—believe it or not—“takoyaki”! It was a preview event brimming with authentic Osaka flair.

What’s more, inside the takoyaki were Sonic plush toys designed by Kosuke Kawamura! The sight of them packed so tightly inside was utterly adorable.

“SEGA STORE OSAKA” has finally opened its doors. It’s a lively, bustling store with unique merchandise you can only find here—truly embodying the spirit of Osaka.

This store is a must-see not only for gamers living in the Kansai region but for all Sega fans, so even if you live far away, please be sure to stop by when you visit Osaka.
