Eid has launched its first-ever 50% off Autumn Sale for the 3D dungeon RPG *Wizardry Gaiden: The Five Trials*, currently available to great acclaim on Steam and Nintendo Switch, under the “Game*Spark Publishing” brand of our game media site “Game*Spark.”
*Wizardry Gaiden: The Five Trials* Fall Sale
First released in 2006, *Wizardry Gaiden: The Five Trials* has long been enjoyed for its simple, fast-paced, and hardcore dungeon-crawling RPG experience. On June 8, 2026, the game celebrated its 20th anniversary.Following a major upgrade in 2021, the game made its debut on Steam and Nintendo Switch, and even 20 years after its initial release, it continues to be widely enjoyed by both longtime fans and new players alike.
To celebrate, we’re offering a 50% discount—the lowest price ever—on this title for one week, from October 2, 2026, at 2:00 a.m. to October 9, 2026, at 1:59 a.m., in conjunction with the Steam Autumn Sale on both Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version of *The Five Trials* has undergone two major updates that added new features and improved performance.
Support for User-Created Scenarios
Significant improvements to the speed of the game’s menu screen and other areas
We have also confirmed that the game runs more smoothly on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Major Update for the Scenario Editor in Development!
We are also preparing a major update for the Scenario Editor service, which has become a favorite among our users. (You might be able to try it out sooner than expected…!?)
For detailed information on the features to be introduced in this major update, please also check the five-part series of articles published in Game*Spark magazine.
Portrait DLC in the works!
For those who find it difficult to prepare user portraits, or for those who want to enjoy portraits on the Nintendo Switch version, we are currently working hard to prepare several new Portrait DLC packs. One of the unannounced packs will be a collaboration portrait set with a popular indie game series.
In addition, we are currently planning and developing even more portrait DLC. Please stay tuned for further updates. Please note that future portrait DLC will generally be sold for a fee.
End of Service for the Legacy Windows Versions of “Prison of Battle,” “Absence of Mercy,” and “Five Trials”
Regarding the older Windows versions of “Prison of Battle,” “Absence of Mercy,” and “Five Trials”—which were sold from 2006 to 2021 prior to their release on Steam—we have discontinued service as of June 8, 2026, due to factors such as the aging of the development environment. As previously announced, we are issuing this notice once again.
Discontinuation of the Tool for Setting Publication Status and Updating Content on Steam for Owners of the Legacy Windows Version of “The Five Trials”
From now on, when setting the visibility of old scenarios on the Steam version, please purchase the Steam version of *The Five Trials* and use the Scenario Converter in the Steam Online Editor service.
End of Online Authentication for the Original Windows Versions of “Prison of Battle,” “Absence of Mercy,” and “Five Trials”
Going forward, it will no longer be possible to perform authentication for gameplay or update the game itself for the older Windows versions, including user-created scenarios. We did consider distributing a version without authentication requirements, but due to the aging of our development environment, it has become difficult to produce such a version through standard procedures; we appreciate your understanding.
Closure of the Official Website and Editor Service Site for the Old Windows Versions of “The Five Trials”
All user-created scenario data will no longer be available for download.
Thank you very much for your support over the past 20 years. Going forward, we hope you will consider purchasing the Steam/Switch versions of *The Five Trials* and the DLCs “Prison of Battle” and “Absence of Mercy.” Since we are unable to offer discounts to owners of the old Windows version, please take advantage of promotions such as the current Autumn Sale.
"Wizardry Gaiden: The Five Trials" is on sale for 50% off—1,990 yen—until October 9, 2026.
