"Gaia Crisis," a new anime-style action horror game from the creators of the series with a 97–98% approval rating, has been announced! Battle an evil warrior maiden and face a once-in-a-millennium catastrophe!

Independent game developer InvertMouse has announced his new action-horror game, *Gaia Crisis*, for PC (Steam).

A Journey to Face a Catastrophe That Occurs Once Every 1,000 Years

This side-scrolling action-horror game pits you against an evil Valkyrie using spells such as “Block” and “Stun.”

In this world, once every 1,000 years, a vessel is chosen to resurrect the “War Maiden,” who brings death to the earth. Charlotte, the young heroine endowed with divine power, must fight the evil War Maiden as humanity’s last hope and face grueling trials.

The gameplay is a 2D side-scrolling action horror game consisting of three acts and a total of 24 chapters. Players explore the world while overcoming puzzles, traps, and formidable enemies that stand in their way.The game also features exploration and collection elements, allowing players to unlock character upgrades and bonus costumes by discovering hidden areas along the way.

In addition, over 30 voice actors participate in the cutscenes that bring the story to life. The story—in which the fates of the protagonist, Charlotte, and the Warrior Maidens intertwine, leading to a spectacular final showdown—is fully voiced.

This title is the latest project from InvertMouse, a Sydney, Australia-based developer known for the survival horror adventures *Clea* and *Clea 2*, both of which hold a 97–98% “Positive” rating on Steam.Development has been ongoing since 2019, and with the formation of a dedicated team, this ambitious project is said to have the longest development cycle to date.

Comment from developer InvertMouse

“While I was developing ‘Clea,’ I saw it as an opportunity to lay the groundwork for taking on a larger project. Thanks to everyone who supported the ‘Clea’ series, I was able to assemble the team needed to create ‘Gaia Crisis.’I’ve been making and loving games for 30 years. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to understand the history of games more deeply. When I’m not working, I visit arcades and game museums, or read and listen to books about games.

Even when I take a nap between development sessions, I’m often listening to video game music! Learning about the long, arduous journeys past creators have overcome inspires me to walk that path myself. *Gaia Crisis* is the project that has taken me the longest to develop. My connection to the culture of video games as a whole is what drives me to keep creating. Even after I’m gone, future developers will continue to make games. It brings me peace of mind to realize that, within this vast timeline, I am just a tiny part of it all. I’m so grateful to be able to be a part of it!
